UCSB First Year Reader Interest

The UCSB Office of Admissions is currently seeking High School Counselors and educators who are interested in reading first-year applications for the Fall 2028 admissions cycle. If interested, complete this form and we will keep you informed of the application process. 

Qualifications:

• Have professional experience in an educational setting, preferably working with high school students.
• Application Readers must be available to attend mandatory online training in late October and read applications in late November through February.
• Application Readers cannot currently work at other 4-year colleges and universities.
• Not a current University of California employee and will not be employed by the University of California from October through February.
• Not a retiree from the University of California.

Estimated timeline:

• June: Reader application released
• Mid-July: Reader applications due (The deadline will be released when the application is available)
• September: Selected applicants notified and must complete hiring paperwork
• October: Mandatory training (multiple dates, including Saturday options available)
• November - January: Reading of applications (a minimum of 15 hours per week)
• February - Reading of applications continues, but with a varied workload based on the operational needs of the Admissions Office
